Michael Schubinger was a wind musician, specifically a shawm player, born around 1450; his death is roughly placed at around 1520. He was the eldest son of Ulrich Schubinger, who was also involved in the instrumental practice of his time, and his career unfolded between southern Germany and northern Italy.

Apparently, he performed in Augsburg between 1472 and 1477. He then moved to Ferrara, where he remained for much of his life, with a brief stay in Naples around 1485-1488. His name ceases to appear in the records around 1520, which serves as a reference point for placing the end of his activity, although the date of his death is not known with certainty.
