Melchior Virgil Michl was a cellist and singer, born and died in Munich, around 1735 and on 8 September 1795 respectively. The son of Ferdinand Michl, he belonged to a family of musicians connected with the Bavarian court.

He is documented as a supernumerary cellist in the Munich court orchestra by 1764 at the latest, and in January 1765 he was fully incorporated into the orchestra's establishment. At the same time, he occasionally directed a German-language theatre company, which performed in Salzburg in the winter of 1778 and, after reorganisation, at the Faberbräutheater in Munich in 1785.

No works by him have been authenticated. Nor does the lost opera Marcio Coriolano, premiered in Munich in 1786, which is sometimes attributed to him, have a confirmed authorship.
