Jacques Alardy
1515–1592 · Nivelles · Flemish singer
Jacques Alardy, also known as Jacobus Alard, Alardi or Alart, was a singer of Flemish origin born in Nivelles around 1515. He belongs to the generation of musicians from the Low Countries who moved to the courts and chapels of sixteenth-century Europe, although the years of his training are not known with certainty.
He is known to have died in Madrid, though the exact date is not known with certainty and, according to some accounts, his death is said to have occurred after 1592. No specific posts or detailed stages of his musical career are recorded.
His name is often associated with that of the composer Alart, although the identification between the two is only possible and not confirmed, so it should be treated with caution.
