Clementine Moralt
1797–1845 · Munich · German contralto
Clementine Moralt was born and died in Munich, in 1797 and 1845 respectively. She was a contralto and came from a family of musicians: she was the daughter of Adam Moralt, which places her training within the musical milieu of the Bavarian capital.
In 1818 she was appointed court singer and, between 1820 and 1843, she was a member of the contralto section of the Munich Court Opera. In 1823 she married the bass Giulio Pellegrini, a highly esteemed singer of his time, whose dates (1806–1858) complete the picture of her professional circle.
Her career illustrates the typical life of a singer in the service of a German court during the first half of the nineteenth century, although no further details about her repertoire or her reputation beyond Munich are known with certainty.
