Carl Khym was an oboist and composer born in Bohemia around 1770, and he was still alive after 1819. He lived in Vienna, where he earned a reputation as a virtuoso oboist.

He styled himself «Employé de sa majesté» on the title page of his Sextuor, Op. 9, a sign of his connection with the court. Among his surviving works are duets for clarinets (1798), duets for flutes (1800) and variations on «Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen» from The Magic Flute.

He arranged chamber works by Beethoven for string quintet and published songs from Dittersdorf's Das rote Käppchen for voice and keyboard.
