Antoine Foucquet
d. 1708 · French organist
Antoine Foucquet was a French organist active in Paris during the reign of Louis XIV. The exact nature of his relationship to Gilles Foucquet is not known, a point the sources do not clarify.
Around 1669 he held the post of organist to Queen Maria Theresa, wife of Louis XIV. He probably succeeded Nicolas de Grigny at the basilica of Saint-Denis. On 1 March 1681 he was appointed organist of Saint-Eustache, and in 1696 he ceded to his son, Pierre, the right to succeed him in that post.
He had two other children, one of whom, Antoine, was also an organist, known as Antoine Foucquet II. His death in Paris took place in 1708.
