Aegidius Ferdinand Karl Lickl, born in Vienna in 1803 and died in Trieste in 1864, was a composer and conductor in nineteenth-century Austria. The son of Johann Georg Lickl, he received his first training from his father and went on to distinguish himself as a pianist.

In the early 1830s he moved to Trieste, where he became a teacher, conductor and composer highly esteemed by the local public. His works include the opera La disfida di Berletta, premiered in February 1848, and the oratorio Der Triumph des Christentums, performed in Vienna in 1855. He also composed a considerable amount of sacred music.

His name is associated above all with the musical life of Trieste, where his teaching and his activity as a conductor carried considerable local weight, although his presence in the general repertoire is today slight.
